Port Hedland Mar iron ore exports to China up 6.1% on yr

Iron ore exports to China from Australia's Port Hedland increased 6.05% from a year earlier to 42.85 million tonnes in March, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority.

 

 

It was 27.90% higher than the previous month. The shipments to China accounted for 86% of the port's total iron ore exports in the month.

 

Port Hedland is one of the world's largest iron ore export ports, used by three of the world's top four iron ore miners - BHP Group, Fortescue Metals Group and Roy Hill Holdings.

 

In March, Port Hedland's total iron ore exports reached 50.08 million tonnes, rising 9.44% on the year and 29.04% from the previous month, data showed.

 

Total exports dipped 1.02% year on year to 131 million tonnes over the first three months. Shipments to China declined 3.81% on the year to 111 million tonnes, taking up 85% of the total.
