China Coal Energy Co., Ltd, the listed arm of China National Coal Group, reported its polyolefin output was down 1.5% year on year but ticked up 0.8% on the month to 128,000 tonnes in January 2024.
Polyolefin sales increased 35.9% on the year yet was 3.8% lower month on month at 125,000 tonnes, according to figures released by the company on February 20.
China Coal Energy produced 65,000 tonnes of polyethylene, falling 1.5% both on the year and month-ago level. The production of polypropylene was 63,000 tonnes, dropping 1.6% year on year yet up 3.3% month on month.
The company sold 65,000 tonnes of polyethylene, surging 62.5% year on year yet unchanged from a month ago. Polypropylene sales were 60,000 tonnes, up 15.4% on the year yet down 7.7% from December 2023.
The production of urea decreased 43.3% year on year and 43.6% from a month earlier to 101,000 tonnes in January, and urea sales were 149,000 tonnes, down 25.9% on the year and 1.3% month on month.
In January, the company produced 115,000 tonnes of methanol, down 34.3% year on year and 21.2% month on month and sold 111,000 tonnes, falling 40.6% on the year and 26% on the month.
