China Energy International Engineering Co. (CEEC) Ltd. and ISOC Energy of the Philippines have recently inked an agreement to develop a 1 GW floating solar project in Laguna Lake, in a significant move towards bolstering clean energy growth for the southeastern country.
This initiative holds the promise of not only enhancing clean energy endeavors but also facilitating the Philippines in its transition towards a green and sustainable energy system.
The scope of work in this agreement includes the full spectrum of project development activities, ranging from design and procurement to construction, testing, and final commissioning of a 1 GW floating solar power facility to be situated in the country's largest lake, Laguna Lake.
In line with the objectives outlined in the Philippine Energy Plan, the proportion of renewable energy sources is slated to increase to 35% by the year 2030, with a more ambitious target of reaching 50% by 2040. This collaborative endeavor aligns with these renewable energy expansion goals.
CEEC stands as a global leader in the realm of energy and power infrastructure solutions. The company has actively engaged with the Philippines' renewable energy market, demonstrating a positive and productive rapport, particularly in the field of floating solar energy.
This project will mark a pioneering milestone as the first large-scale floating solar power plant in the Philippines. It holds the potential to augment the share of renewable energy sources in the nation's power generation, thus underlining a sustainable path to fulfilling ocial and economic energy requirements.
