Northwestern China's Ningxia autonomous region produced 14.85 million tonnes of coal from January to February, up 0.2% year on year, local economic planner said.
Production of general bituminous coal reached 13.87 million tonnes, down 0.7% year on year; coking coal output rose 17.1% on the year to 0.81 million tonnes; anthracite output rose 12.3% to 0.17 million tonnes.
In January-February, Ningxia's raw coal sales reached 8.52 million tonnes, down 34.2% year on year. As of end-February, stockpiles at coal mines across the region were at 2.39 million tonnes and enough for 17 days of turnover.
Ningxia's electricity production reached 36.15 TWh during January to February, up 4.1% year on year. Coal-based power generation reached 27.49 TWh, down 2.5% year on year. Renewable generation (hydro, wind and solar) reached 8.66 TWh, a 32.8% rise.
