China's coal output stood at 362.8 million tonnes in April, up 10.7% from a year earlier but fell 8.3% month on month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on May 16.
The daily output averaged 12.09 million tonnes last month, compared with 12.77 million tonnes in March, representing a fall of 5.3%, the NBS data showed. The daily output is lower than the government's target of 12.6 million tonnes a day.
Aggregate output in January-April totaled 1.45 billion tonnes, up 10.5% year on year.
In April, coal transport was impacted by tight rail capacity and the epidemic lockdowns across producing regions (e.g. Shanxi). Coal consumption also partially subdued at coastal power plants, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns and cozy weather.
