Japan's coke imports fell the second straight month in June, to 161,900 tonnes, down 101,700 tonnes or 38.58% from May, but much higher than 20,500 tonnes a year ago, showed data from the Japan Ministry of Finance.
Japan's coke imports from China's mainland stood at 137,600 tonnes in June, tumbling 47.45% from May. The volume accounted for 84.98% of the country's total imports.
The June coke import amounted to 7.5 billion yen ($68.15 million), far higher than the year-ago level of 826 million yen but down 34.09% from a month earlier. The import price was calculated at 46,314.27 yen/t in average, rising 14.84% year on year and 7.3% month on month.
Over January-June, Japan's coke imports totaled 1.21 million tonnes against the year-ago level of 163,100 tonnes.
