Chinese key steel mills registered an increase of 1.02% in daily output of crude steel over January 11-20 compared to previous ten days, China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) data showed on January 25, 2021.
The association said these steel mills produced 2.22 million tonnes of crude steel averagely each day during the period, an increase of 12.33% from a year ago.
Daily production of pig iron averaged 1.96 million tonnes, rising 0.89% from ten days ago and up 12.63% from the year prior, while that of finished steel rose 0.41% from ten days ago to 2.06 million tonnes, up 8.52% year on year.
During January 11-20, key steel mills churned out a total 22.18 million tonnes of crude steel, 19.61 million tonnes of pig iron, 20.6 million tonnes of finished steel and 3.31 million tonnes of coke.
During the same period, China was estimated to produce a total 28.52 million tonnes of crude steel, with daily output up 0.63% from ten days ago and rising 7.34% on the year to 2.85 million tonnes.
Total output of pig iron in China was estimated at 24.32 million tonnes, with daily output at 2.43 million tonnes. Total finished steel output was expected to reach 37.3 million tonnes, with daily output up 0.26% from ten days ago to 3.73 million tonnes.
As of January 20, key steel mills held 14.04 million tonnes of finished steel stocks, up 7.8% or 1.02 million tonnes from ten days ago and surging 29.99% or 3.24 million tonnes from the year-ago period.
