China's coking coal imports stood at 72.57 million tonnes in 2020, dropping 2.6% compared with the preceding year, according to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
The December imports came in at 3.57 million tonnes, rising 110% from the same month a year ago but sliding 4.03% compared with the preceding month, data showed.
The import amount reached $332.56 million in December, surging 139.8% on the year and up 3.61% from the preceding month. The import price was estimated at $93.15/t, up $6.87/t from the previous month and $11.58/t from a year ago.
Total coking coal imports were worth $8.43 billion in 2020, down 18.1% year on year, data showed.
China imported 1.63 million tonnes of anthracite in December, soaring 2,223.8% year on year and 176.27% month on month, the latest GAC data showed.
The figure brought the total anthracite imports to 7.8 million tonnes in 2020, 9.4% higher compared with a year ago.
The December imports were worth $133.16 million, shooting up 2,199.4%. The import price was calculated at $81.69/t, a year-on-year increase of $3.03/t month on month but a monthly reduction of $1.04/t.
The accumulative amount totaled $661.17million in 2020, still falling 15.2% from a year earlier.
