Commercial coal output of China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., a listed arm of China Energy Investment Corp., grew 4.1% from a year ago to 25.20 million tonnes in December, the company said in a report on January 23.
The output was 1.61% higher compared with the preceding month, the company said.
The December figure brought total production to 291.60 million tonnes in 2020, with a year-on-year growth of 3.1%.
Coal sales climbed 6.8% from a year ago and surged 20.88% from a month earlier to 46.90 million tonnes in December.
The accumulative coal sales were down 0.2% year on year to 446.40 million tonnes last year.
In December, Shenhua had 16.70 million tonnes coal handled at Huanghua port (-1.8% YoY, -7.22% MoM), and 4.00 million tonnes shipped from Shenhua Tianjin coal dock (5.3% YoY, flat MoM).
Coal handling at Huanghua port and Tianjin port stood at 203.80 million tonnes (2.1% YoY) and 45.40 million tonnes (1.6% YoY), respectively, last year.
The firm's power generation dipped 0.1% year on year to 14.18 TWh in December, sending total power generation to 136.33 TWh during the year.
Power sales were also slid 0.1% from the year-ago level to 13.33 TWh last month, and totaled 127.65 TWh in 2020, the company said.
