Hebei, Jiangsu, Liaoning and Shandong, the top four steel provinces, produced a total of 45.1 million tonnes of crude steel in October, accounting for 48.9% of China's total, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
China's crude steel output reached 92.2 million tonnes in October, up 13.1% year on year while falling 0.38% from September. The average daily output in October was calculated at 2.97 million tonnes, falling 110,900 tonnes or 3.59% from a month ago.
In October, five provinces reported crude steel production above 5 million tonnes: Hebei, 20.96Mt, -3.37MoM; Jiangsu, 10.94Mt, 1.81% MoM; Shandong, 6.72Mt, -2.42% MoM; Liaoning, 6.49Mt, 2.42% MoM and Shanxi, 5.82Mt, -0.43% MoM, totalling 50.91 million tonnes and accounting for 55.2% of China's total.
Through January to October, the top 4 provinces produced a total 441.57 million tonnes of coal, taking 50.5% of the country's total, which is 873.93 million tonnes and marked a year-on-year growth of 5.39%.
In October, 14 provinces reported crude steel output dropped month on month. In particular, Tianjin registered the largest reduction of 13.07% to 1.78 million tonnes in Ocotber.
Guizhou's crude steel output declined by 10.4% from a month ago to 362,000 tonnes, while Qinghai's output reached 161,000 tonnes, down 9.55% on the month.
Shanxi's output showed the smallest reduction of 0.43% to 5.82 million tonnes, followed by Sichuan, at 0.64% to 2.5 million tonnes.
Over the same period, China's 14 provinces enjoyed a year-on-year increase of crude steel production. Inner Mongolia ranked first, with an increase of 9.33% from September to 2.91 million tonnes. The next is Guangdong with 8.03% month-on-month increment to 3.22 million tonnes, which is followed by Guangxi with 7.34% increment to 2.22 million tonnes.
