The opening ceremony of a 5 million tonnes coking co-production project was held on November 18 in the Low Carbon Industrial Park of Wuhai Economic Development Zone, according to the website of Wuhai municipal government.
The project is invested and constructed by Inner Mongolia Guangna Coal Industry Group. It consists of 6.25-meter stamping coke ovens with four sets 2×55 holes and supporting chemical products recovery facilities and dry quenching equipment.
The project is estimated to achieve an annual output value of 13.93 billion yuan ($2.12 billion) with profit and taxes contribution of 3.03 billion yuan and employment of 1,400 people.
Its chemical products recovery facilities include 600,000 tonnes oven gas-to-methanol equipment and 200,000 tonnes liquid ammonia equipment, as well as 600,000 tonnes/yr olefin equipment, 250,000 tonnes/yr polyethylene equipment and 350,000 tonnes/yr polypropylene equipment.
It is a landmark and demonstration project for reorganization and transformation of the coking industry in Wuhai, an industrial city in western Inner Mongolia.
