China's coal exports in August posted a 50% year-on-year slump, a much faster decline than a 24.9% yearly drop a month ago, showed data from the General Administration of Customs on September 24.
The country exported 170,000 tonnes of coal in August, falling sharply by 66% from a four-month high of 500,000 tonnes in July, data showed.
In August, China earned $22.76 million from coal exports, a decrease of 55.13% year on year. That translated to an average export price of $133.86/t, falling $15.29/t from a year ago but up $29.36/t month on month.
In the first eight months, China's coal exports totaled 2.41 million tonnes, down by 39.5% on the year. The value tumbled 48.9% to $329.76 million.
