Chinese key steel mills saw a rise of 0.42% in daily output of crude steel over September 11-20 compared to previous ten days, China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) data showed.
The association said these steel mills produced 2.15 million tonnes of crude steel averagely each day during the period, an increase of 1.94% from a year ago.
Daily production of pig iron averaged 1.9 million tonnes, inching down 0.03% from ten days ago but up 0.47% from the year prior, while that of finished steel rose by 2.3% from ten days ago to 2.05 million tonnes, up 4.05% year on year.
During September 10-20, key steel mills churned out a total 21.46 million tonnes of crude steel, 18.96 million tonnes of pig iron, 20.45 million tonnes of finished steel and 3.16 million tonnes of coke.
During the same period, China was estimated to produce a total 30.42 million tonnes of crude steel, with daily output rising 0.04% from ten days ago and 7.22% on the year to 3.04 million tonnes.
Total output of pig iron in China was estimated at 24.95 million tonnes, with daily output at 2.49 million tonnes. Total finished steel output was expected to reach 37.86 million tonnes, with daily output up 1.62% from ten days ago to 3.79 million tonnes.
As of September 20, key steel mills held 13.4 million tonnes of finished steel stocks, up 1.02% or 135,9100 tonnes from ten days ago and surging 40.62% from early this year.
