Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia in northwestern China, produced 41.3 million tonnes of raw coal in January-August period, a year-on-year increment of 0.1%, official data showed.
Compared with first seven months of 2020, the growth slowed down by 0.6 percentage points.
Power generation rose 9% to 62.43 TWh during the same period. Of this, coal-fired electricity generation was 58.47 TWh, rising 9.2% year on year. Renewables like wind and solar farms generated 3.96 TWh, up 6.5% year on year.
Through January to August, industrial power consumption totaled 21.61 TWh with a year-on-year rise of 2.6%, 0.2 percentage points higher than January-July period.
Over the same period, the city's energy consumption in industrial sector was 24.51 million tonnes of standard coal, rising 1.3% year on year. The heavy industry consumed 23.64 million tonnes, up 1% year on year. Light industry utilized 863,900 tonnes, up 10.7% a year earlier.
