The Baltic Exchange's Dry Index inched 12 points or 0.8% up, to 1475, rising for 6-session streak on August 5, as the Panamax vessels rate climbed up and made up the losses in other vessels.
The Capesize index fell 36 points, or 1.4%, to 2,458.
The average daily rent for Capesize vessels, mainly transporting cargoes like iron ore and coal, decreased by $304 to $20,383.
The Panamax index, on August 5, increased by 94 points or 7.1%, to 1,410, reaching the peak level since July 21.
The average daily rent for Panamax ships jumped $853 to $12,693. The vessel typically carries coal or grain with 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes volume.
The supramax index fell by 7 points to 844.
