Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, one of major coal firms in China, will overfulfil its target of coal supply to southeastern China' Jiangxi province in 2020 and strive to increase supply to 10 million tonnes in 2022 and 20 million tonnes in 2025, according to the Jiangxi government website.
The supply targets were established in a meeting on July 7, and as part of strategic cooperation agreement among Jiangxi Energy Bureau, Jiangxi Province Investment Group and Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group.
Coal sales prices to Jiangxi would remain no higher than annual long-term contract prices, contemporaneous market prices and sea-to-river prices over the same period, said Yang Zhaoqian, director of the company.
Jiangxi's raw coal production stood at 245,000 tonnes in May, down 29.6% year on year, and accounting for only 0.77% of the country's total.
The province has closed over 283 coal mines with combined capacity over 18.68 million tonnes per annum as of August 2019 during the 13th Five Year Plan period (2016-2020), in line with the country's general strategy of reducing coal output in the areas outside three top coal production bases of Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi.
