Power consumption in Zhejiang, one industrial hub in eastern China, reached 43.5 TWh in June, rising 14.1% from a year ago, expanding 9.1 percentage points from May, showed data from State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd.
Fast increase in power use benefited partly from economy rebooting after the COVID-19 pandemic woes faded, and partly from hotter weather.
Maximum power load of Zhejiang power grid came in at 70.34 GW in June, up 17.5% against the previous year and 4.6% month on month.
The province saw power use post positive yearly growth in May for the first time this year, as the economy gradually got back on its feet, after logging narrower decline in April.
In the first half of the year, the province consumed 206.2 TWh electricity in total.
