Russia registered a 6.29% year-on-year decline in coal exports to 87.98 million tonnes in the first six months this year, showed official data.
During the same period, coal output in the country dropped 8.43% on the year to 195 million tonnes, according to data from Energy Ministry of Russian Federation.
Russia's coal exports in 2020 is forecast to drop 15 million tonnes as compared to that in 2019, as producers are taking steps to balance global oversupply and support prices, insiders said.
In June, Russia exported 15.8 million tonnes of coal, rising 3.15% from the year before yet dipping 3.43% from a month ago.
Total coal production in June came in at 31.62 million tonnes, a drop of 4.1% year on year though up 2% month on month.
