Coal production of the 10 largest coal producers increased by 1.22% year on year in the first five months, according to data released by China National Coal Association.
Combined production of the top 10 producers totaled 690 million tonnes during the period, accounting for 64.5% of the 90 major producers monitored by the association.
The 90 producers produced 1.07 billion tonnes of coal in the first five months, dipping 0.4% or 4.23 million tonnes from the same period last year. Their revenues declined 6.9% on the year to 1,336.7 billion yuan; profits slumped 37.9% to 40.09 billion yuan.
In January-May, China's coal production totaled 1.47 billion tonnes. That means the top 10 miners produced 46.9% of China's total over the period.
Among the top 10 producers, five saw their production increase 16.5 million tonnes in total from a year ago, and the rest five's production was 8.2 million tonnes lower than the year-ago level.
