China's coking coal imports totaled 4.79 million tonnes in May, down 19.1% year on year and 23.8% month on month, data from the General Administration of Customs showed.
Value of the imports totaled $564.15 million, down 25.9% year on year and 33% month on month. The average import price was calculated at $117.9/t, down $10.7/t YoY and $16.2/t MoM.
In the first five months, China's coking coal imports were 31.86 million tonnes, a 7.1% rise from the same period last year, which were worth $4.29 billion, up 2.7%.
Imports of anthracite were 440,000 tonnes in May, down 49.9% YoY and 35.2% MoM, data showed.
Value of anthracite imports reached $40.05 million, down 57.6% YoY and 35.3% MoM, from which the average import price was calculated at $92/t, down $16.6/t YoY and $0.2/t MoM.
Anthracite imports totaled 3.04 million tonnes in January-May, down 26.7%, while its value declined 40% to $279.52 million.
