Shaanxi will increase 10.2 TWh of power supply to Qinghai, an inland province in western China, from 2020 to 2022, according to the "Three-year Framework Agreement on Medium- and Long-term Electricity Cooperation" signed by power grids in the two provinces, official news showed.
Shaanxi will send 3.2 TWh of electricity to Qinghai in 2020. Due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the social electricity consumption of Shaanxi province slid by 3.88% year on year to hit 53.53 TWh as of the end of April.
The average utilization hours of power generating units under Shaanxi Power Grid reduced by 101 hours from the previous year to reach 1,138 hours, of which those of thermal power generating units were 1,328 hours, down 136 hours on the year.
The increasing electricity transmission to Qinghai from Shaanxi is conducive to driving up the utilization hours of power generation units and supporting the economic development of Shaanxi province.
