Russia exported 71.30 million tonnes of coal in total over January-May, down 9.25% from 78.57 million tonnes in the same period last year, according to preliminary statistics from the Energy Ministry of Russian Federation.
Russian coal exports in May dropped by 13.31% compared with 17.87 million tonnes in May of a year ago to hit 15.49 million tonnes, data showed.
The exports in May slightly dipped by 0.98% from 15.64 million tonnes in April this year, recording the first decline after three consecutive months of growth.
Russian coal production during January-May added up to 163 million tonnes, falling 9.32% from 180 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2019.
Russian coal production in May hit the fresh low since July 2016 to reach 30.82 million tonnes, a decrease of 13.41% from 35.59 million tonnes in the same period of the previous year and a 5.44% decline from 32.59 million tonnes in April this year.
