Xinshuo railway, connecting two major coal production areas of Inner Mongolia and Shanxi, shipped 10.78 million tonnes of goods in May, beating its monthly target by 419,000 tonnes, CHN Energy said on its website.
Shipments of coal stood at 10.69 million tonnes and non-coal goods at 88,000 tonnes last month, both exceeding targets.
Xinshuo railway is directly owned by Xinshuo Railway Co., Ltd., which was officially listed at the beginning of 2020 and is a subsidiary of coal giant CHN Energy.
The new rail line includes former Datong-Zhunger, Zhunger-Shenchi and Xinjie-Zhunger lines, and is connected with Daqin railway, and is expected to help facilitate coal transfer from western Inner Mongolia to major northern coal hub of Qinhuangdao port.
