Banpu Public Co., Ltd., a leading energy company based in Thailand, revised down its coal sales target to 39.3 million tonnes in two major markets of Indonesia and Australia, sources said, as the spreading COVID-19 pandemic continuously depresses demand in major coal destinations including India.
It was down by about 2.4 Mt from the target of 41.7 Mt set at the beginning of the year.
Specifically, the company now aims to sell 23.5 Mt in Indonesia, down 2 Mt compared with precious target, and 15.8 million tonnes in Australia, down 0.4 Mt.
The company expects that its sales in China will reach 4.8 million tonnes in 2020.
