China reported a year-on-year slump of 38.1% in coal exports in April, according to customs data, impacted possibly by shutdown measures taken by many countries amid Covid-19 pandemic spread.
The country exported a total 310,000 tonnes of coal to other countries last month, showed data from the General Administration of Customs, plummeting by 49.18% from March.
April coal exports were valued at $51.27 million, a decrease of 42.4% from the year prior and down by 36.7% month on month. Average export price was calculated at $165.37/t, down by $12.74/t year on year yet rising $32.61/t from March.
In the first four months, China's coal exports totaled 1.42 million tonnes, down by 38.9% year on year. The value totaled $211.43 million, plunging 45.6% year on year.
