Shanxi province saw power consumption up by 1.4% year on year to 18.25 TWh in April, marking the first increase since this year.
January-April electricity usage came in at 72.97 TWh, a decrease of 1.9% compared with the year-ago level.
In April, electricity consumption of the primary industry was 150 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%. From January to April, the primary industry consumed 620 GWh of power, an increase of 4.9%.
Driven by industrial electricity consumption, the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 14.11 TWh last month, an increase of 1.2% year-on-year. From January to April, the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 54.26 TWh, a decrease of 3.3%.
The province's industrial electricity usage was 13.94 TWh, an increase of 1.4% year-on-year. In the first four months, the consumption was 53.54 TWh, a decrease of 3.1%.
In April, the electricity consumption of the petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industries increased by 9.3% year on year, while that of the non-metallic mineral products industry increased by 7.4%, and that of electricity, heat production and supply increased by 5.8 %.
The power consumption of coal mining and washing industry increased by 4.0%, while that of ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry decreased by 0.1%, that of non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry dropped by 10.7%.
The tertiary industry consumed 2.16 TWh of electricity last month, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%, with decline slowing 5.2 percentage points from the previous month. In January-April, power consumption of the tertiary industry was 9.36 TWh, a decrease of 5.2%.
In April, power consumption of the accommodation and catering industry decreased by 23.3% year on year, while that of the rental and business services industry decreased by 19.8%.
There were declines of 5.9% and 5.1% in electricity consumption of the transportation, warehousing and postal industries and the wholesale and retail industries.
Residents' electricity consumption continued to grow rapidly. In April, urban and rural residents' electricity consumption was 1.83 TWh, an increase of 13.9% year on year. From January to April, urban and rural residents' electricity consumption was 8.72 TWh, an increase of 11.8%.
