Henan saw its proportion of coal consumption in energy mix drop to below 70% in 2019, amid steady growth of clean energy, the province said in a report released lately.
Renewable energy made up for over 25% of the province's total installed power generating capacity last year. The proportion of clean energy consumption has climbed 5 percentage points since the start of the country's Five Year plan in 2016, the report said.
Non-fossil energy consumption accounted for about 8.5% of energy consumption. As of the end of 2019, the province's installed power-generating capacity of non-fossil energy stood at 23.36 GW, of which solar power reached 10.54 GW.
Power generation from non-fossil energy increased by 18% year on year, and use of non-fossil energy has increased by approximately 13% from a year ago.
In 2020, total energy consumption of the province is expected to reach 240 million tonnes of standard coal, with total coal consumption approximately reducing to about 200 million tonnes, a reduction of about 15% compared with the 2015 level.
