Qinghai's power generation by clean energy accounts for 74.5% in Q1, up YoY
Qinghai Province's power generation from clean energy sources, mainly hydropower, wind power and solar power, amounted to 12.622 TWh in the first quarter of 2020, representing 74.5% of the power generation by the province's above-scale industrial enterprises.
The proportion is an increase of 5.6 percentage points from the same period last year and an increase of 1.3 percentage points from January-February, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
Qinghai's maximum daily power generation from new energy sources reached a record high of 96.7 GWh by April-end.
In the first quarter, the above-scale industrial power generators in Qinghai Province produced 16.952 TWh of power, an increase of 6.5% year on year. The growth rate was 0.2 percentage points faster from a year ago and 2.9 percentage points faster from January-February.
Qinghai Province, located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, has rich endowments in hydropower, solar energy, wind resources and desertified land resources used for photovoltaic and wind power construction.
The province is designed to be built as an important new energy industry base in China. The construction framework and development mechanism for a national clean energy demonstration province will basically form in Qinghai in 2020.
