India exported 3.88 million tonnes of iron ore in January, a surge 142% compared to the same month last year.
China took the most with 3.66 million tonnes, followed by Japan with 0.146 million tonnes and South Korea with 0.071 million tonnes.
The average export price during January was $65.1/t, down 17.5% year on year.
Meanwhile, India imported a meager 0.138 million tonnes, down 42.5% year on year. Almost all of it came from South Africa.
The average import price during January was US$114/t, an increase of 84.5% year on year.
