Thirteen trapped Chinese miners were rescued on December 18 through over three days of rescue efforts, after a coal mine flooding accident happened in southwestern China's Sichuan province on December 14.
The miners had been trapped in Shanmushu mine under Sichuan Coal Industry Group in Gongxian county of the province for over 80 hours.
Among 347 people working in the shaft at the time of the accident, 329 workers were brought to the surface on December 15, five people were confirmed dead and rest 13 newly rescued miners were in stable condition, according to Xinhua News, citing a press release from the coal mine company.
