China's coking coal imports registered a mild increase of 1.8% compared with a year ago in July, according to the latest official data.
The country imported 7.75 million tonnes of coking coal last month, increasing 18.32% from a month earlier, showed data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on August 23.
The value of imports dropped 6.5% on the year to $1.16 billion in July, which translated to an average price at $149.22/t, falling $13.75/t year on year and down $0.9/t from June.
Coking coal imports totaled 43.95 million tonnes in January-July, an increase of 18% year on year. The value rose by 12.4% on the year to $6.3 billion.
