Jingshen railway starting from Shaanxi province, one leading coal production hub in northwestern China, is slated to commence operation on September 30, the same day as Menghua railway, the third coal artery after Daqin and Shuohuang lines.
Jingshen rail line will be dedicated to moving coal from key mining areas in Shaanxi, including Shenfu, Yushen and Yuheng, to central and eastern consuming regions, said operator Shaanxi Railway Logistics Group under Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group on its website.
The rail line is located in Yulin city of Shaanxi province and spans a total of 243.96 kilometers.
It is scheduled to function as a branch of Menghua railway, which is designed with transport capacity of 200 million tonnes per year.
The 1,837-km Menghua railway, which ends in the city of Ji'an, east China's Jiangxi Province, will be the longest heavy-loaded railway in the country.
Large quantities of premium coal resources produced in Shaanxi will be delivered to North Jingbian station from West Shenmu via Jingshen line and then to central and eastern consumption regions in China like Henan, Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi by Menghua railway.
Coal transport by Shaanxi Railway Logistics Group trended up 10% year on year to 14.4 million tonnes in the first half of the year, showed data from the firm.
